Bethany Lutheran Church

A Great Commision Congregation

(updated 11/9/15)

At Bethany Lutheran Church, service is taken seriously. As God's people, it is not an option for us to fail in growth and service. We seek to strengthen you in your discipleship. That strengthening happens in two ways. First, we will help you grow in your faith. Second, we will find you a place to serve. Below is a partial list of service opportunities at Bethany. If you are interested in serving or would like more information you may call the church office at (562)421-4711 or email

Service Opportunities for You @ BLC

Greeters needed for Sunday Morning: This is a great way to serve at Bethany!  It doesn't require alot of time but reaps great rewards!  You will need to show up about 20 minutes before the service and welcome visitors, members, and guests to Bethany!  If you are interested in serving as a greeter, please call the church office at 562-421-4711. Additionally, if you would be available to be a Greeter on a regular basis, we are compiling a schedule beginning in January. Thank you for having a heart to serve!

Acolytes/Crucifers: Acolytes help everyone prepare for worship by serving as the ones who bear the "Light" which illuminates the darkness. They serve as assistants to Pastor during communion, offering, etc. Crucifers carry the cross into and out of the church at the beginning and end of service as we follow Him into the world. Youth in grades 5-12 may apply to serve. There is a real need for crucifers at all the services; please prayerfully consider volunteering for this ministry.

Bookstore - Noah's Place: Bethany has its very own bookstore located in Friendship Square. Our store offers a variety of Christian books, Bibles, cards, as well as videos that you may check out. It is open after Sunday morning services. Volunteers are needed to run the store, generally for a 1-hour, once-a-month, shift.

Boy Scouts Troop 75 - Visit their website!

Church Repair & Maintenance: If you are a handyman or enjoy lawn and gardening upkeep and wish to share this God-given talent with Bethany, then contact our Board of Trustees to put this gift to use.

Community Impact Committee - Their website is under construction & coming soon!

If you would be interested in volunteering or just receiving more information on the job description, please contact Cindy Morrison in the church office at (562) 421-4711 or email her at Thank you for your prayerful consideration in this wonderful opportunity to serve your church passionately.

This includes preparing for and cleaning up after communion services, ordering all fair linens, communion ware furnishings, and collection of donations for these services. Volunteers also work on mission projects.
