Sunday School News

Sunday School is offered for children 2 years of age through 6th grade on Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30AM  in various locations around our campus. Loving and caring volunteer teachers teach lessons, do crafts, and sing songs with children as they hear the Good News of God's great love for them through Jesus Christ. For more information on enrolling your child or volunteering to help with Sunday School, please contact Mr. Karl Fink at ext. 19 or kfink@bethanylutheran.org.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS:

(updated 9/1/10)

On Sunday, September 12th at 9:30AM:

Preschool through 3rd grade will meet out by the lunch tables initially. Then you and your teacher will walk to your classroom, get to know each other, and lesson time for the remainder of the class session. 4th-6th grade will meet in the gym to hear the Alaska Mission Team presentation and the NYG participants.

Exciting Sunday School News:

A small group of us have been planning a new "twist" for our Sunday School program. Here is how it will work:

  • Preschool-Grade 3 will meet in their regular classrooms, as normal, getting all of the lesson, craft, play time (for younger ones) as usual.
  • Grades 4-6 will go directly to the Gym for their Sunday School hour. During this time they will rotate to various places for their lesson time, craft time, music time, snack tiem, and if time permits, game time. Some churches have been using this model for years, and we just wanted to start something different here in the hopes of gaining more children for our program. Parents and other adults are always welcome to stay and help out; many hands will make light work for our volunteers.

If you have any questions, please contact Karl Fink. You can also speak to Debbie Peurrung, our Sunday School Superintendent, or Mr. Scott Andersen. Keep watching the weekly Sunday Chimes for news and updates on this new program!

Is Sunday School dead? Hardly! Sunday School is a place for us to sense our belonging as a Child of God and to grow in the knowledge of God's love. All God's children are called to a deeper relationship with god through life-long learning; learning and faithfulness are intertwined. Don't miss our 2010 Fall Launch into exploring what God has in store for our lives.

The 2010 Fall session begins Sunday, September 12th at 9:30AM. All students will meet in the Gym on the first day. Teachers for preschool through 3rd will then take their class to their classroom for the rest of the period. 4th-6th grade will remain in the Gym. Come and bring your friends as this year promises to be filled with fabulous fun and fellowship with Jesus...new lessons, new stories, and new crafts.

Jesus didn't take attendance as the chidlren and adults gathered around to hear the Gospel. But, we want each of you to be included in our count as we use and discover our gifts and continue to learn how to be a Christian disciple and good steward.

Early registration will ensure we have plenty of materials so no one is left out. Classes are set up by age/grade levels starting with preschoolers as young as 2.

  • Can we beat our highest attendance average?
  • Can Sunday School make a difference in the life of a child?

With God's help and you there...the answer is YES!

Peace and joy, Debbie Peurrung

WHAT IS A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER?  The role of a Sunday School Teacher is to bring the “Good News” about Jesus to His little ones here at Bethany. God has provided us with students, the means to get the lessons and supplies, and most importantly… the gift of His Holy Spirit. We believe anyone can teach our children on a Sunday morning, if only they are willing!   What is missing?  YOU!   There is no age requirement to join in our Joy of Christian Service…only the love of our Lord and His children.  If you would like to be a part of our Sunday School teaching team, please contact Karl Fink or Debbie Peurrung in the Sunday School office.  Thanks.

THE CHILDREN SINGING IN WORSHIP:

Our Sunday School Children sing a few times during the year.  It is always such a wonderful and joyous experience to hear our Sunday School children raise their voices in song and praise during worship.

Please take a look at the link below and put these dates on your home calendar. Plan to join us for these special worship services. *This link will be posted soon.
